Possibly a new R1 owner

Post by chris__p »

Hi, thought I'd say hello, off to go get a blue 98 4xv on Saturday, assuming its not a dog I'll be buying it. Been looking for a while now but think I've found the right one now. 100% as it came from the factory.

Got an Nc30 in Seed colours as well. Always had Hondas but really like the look of the old r1's so thought it was time for a change.

Anyway, hopefully be able to post pictures up on saturday

Hi buddy, I owned an NC30 as my first big bike after my 125. Absolutely loved it! Good choice on the R1 and I'm certain you'll love the roar power of it!!

Thanks for the welcome, I'll no doubt be on asking all sorts of dumb questions. Last big bike was a RR3 fireblade but that was a while ago, think its going to be interesting getting used to the R1.

Here's a picture of my nc30, don't tend to ride it much, trying to get it back to mint condition but it was pretty good to start with

This is the r1 I'm off to buy, looks good in the pictures

Welcome to the forum mate...The 4xv looks a minter and looks like its been well looked after....I love the Nc's and rvf's 400,s...But they never suited me as I found them too small as over 6ft tall....

They vary a lot, original bike with OE panels and not messed with are anywhere 1.5-2k realistically, more for a UK bike, going up a bit now, someone is selling one the same as mine but lower mileage for 4k but that's overly optimistic I think.

Oh yea great fun...I used to knock about with a young lady that had Nc30 about 10 years ago...And from time to time I used to ride it... I seem to remember they had a very tall 1st gear....

Yeah, its a very long 1st, what I like is having to really work the gears and engine rather than having the grunt to be able to get you around in a couple of the cogs

I was under the impression that they were all grays ?

They had a massively tall first gear.... It would hit 60 no probs!! I loved it :) mine was white, red and blue and it looked really good with white wheels and a race rear end.

They made some official UK bikes, a few differences, main one being an oil cooler added

Well going to need to change the title to is a new R1 owner, the bike in my opinion was better than described in the advert so money paid and on the way home with it now, happy days

I'll sort that out now, first impression is very good, going to strip it down and give it a complete going over although it is as clean as it looks in the pictures, just the rear shock has got a little bit of surface corrosion

Nice looking bikes mate, congrats on the new purchase! I can't seem to put my 400 days behind me either! Lol, I found myself bidding on an old 89 ZXR 400 SP earlier this year which had been seriously neglected! So got that sat in the shed now very slowly coming back to life, with the help of eBay whenever the mrs turns her back for 30seconds! Lol
