How do
How do
Evening all.
Just saying hello. Just bought an R6 (2000) as I wanted to get back on some tracks (just got rid of a 1200 Bandit) and thought this would be a decent track missile.
It was set up as a sprint bike when I bought it and I decided it wouldn't take too much to get it so I can ride it on the road too. I've started transplanting a new (second hand) wiring loom as the last owner had butchered the one one the bike. Electrics are genuinely sh**e and I'm struggling to find out what some of the connectors are for. I'm sure I will get there in the end.
I'm going to wrap the panels in carbon vinyl whilst I've got the bike stripped down and then add a new decal kit so it should look the nuts when it's done. I'm also having a crack at water transfer printing so I guess some of the bits will be used as test pieces.
I may well pester some of you for help and advice and for this I thank you in advance.
Cheers me dears.

Welcome in Paul
Nice intro what other bikes you had other than the bandit ? , i'm sure some of the R6 boys can help you with the wiring & connectors also theres a couple that have also gone down the carbon wrap route .
ask away , the worst we can do is ignore you or take the piss

Re: How do
Thanks guys.
I've had allsorts to be honest. Hayabusa, R1, Firestorm, SP2, GSX1400, Bandit 6 & 12, ZZR6, Fireblade etc etc. not had a 600 for a lot of years so I'm hoping the R6 is quick enough. It's been jetted and has a filter and can so it should be good. It ran when I bought it a few weeks ago but I decided to attack it and get it road legal. It only cost me £1100 so if I put a few hundred into it and end up with a good looking bike (mainly for the track) it should be ok.

Re: How do
In case.....you mean when!
Vinyl wrap is instead of re spraying it. I have some white carbon vinyl (basically a bloody big sticker) which will be heated and formed on the panels/tank. I work in the graphics industry and some of the lads I work with can do it so I thought why not. Look it up on YouTube, it looks ace when done properly but I wouldn't even begin to attempt it myself cos I'd make a right bo**ox of it!
The bikes in bits at the moment as I've transplanted a complete wiring loom into it. I'm hoping to have it up and running with the panels back on in the next couple of weeks although I suspect I might have to put a call into my mate who's sh*t hot with all things bike cos I'm bound to lose my rag with it when I reach the limit of my abilities..........it's close!
Cheers fellas.

Welcome in Paul
If you give me a bit of time to perfect it (just started) I would be happy to do it for you. I can get the carbon transfer so not a problem. Drop me a PM at the end of next week and let's see what I can do for you.
Hope that helps.

Re: How do
Yeah it should do. I've got a sticker kit for it too so once the wrap is done that's going on and I might lacquer it. The bronze one looks mint and I bet it was a nightmare to do. I really want to have a go but I know I'd end up wasting more material than I can afford.
I will have quite a bit of the vinyl up for grabs too if anyone wants to purchase some from me. I will put it in the for sale section soon but thought it worth a mention. It's top quality vinyl which I got cheaper than I suspect anyone on here will be able to as I'm in the trade so I'm happy to pass the saving on (with a tiny bit of profit for me to pay towards mine!). Anyway as i say I will post in the for sale section
I can't wait to get the R6 on the road as it feels really lite when I move it around in the garage etc so I'm guessing once I have it set up for me it should be great on the track. Just hope it's not too small as I'm 6'2" and 16 stone..........and I like pies!

Re: How do
Yeah I'm gona give it a go now I've watched some videos on it but I still think I will leave my panels to the lad at work. At least that way I can blame him if he fecks it up and not myself!jompy wrote:ever thought of using some of the scrap offcuts on some old bike pieces for practice ?sharpe750 wrote:Yeah it should do.
