New to R1s and Yamahas

Post by Crownan »

Hi there.

I don't actually have a bike at present but am on the look out for a Cross-plane R1.

(My previous bike, 2004 ZX10R, got written off last year by a nasty man in a BMW.......)

So I'll be looking through posts for research and advice etc.

8-)

It's all Digits on this forum. Some people think colour makes a difference. Apparently silver and blue ones are sh!t slow. Red and White are the fastest!

I am actually looking for a white one, however if a blue one came up at the right price then I'd be considering it. Afterall, the colour doesn't really matter when you're on it right? ;)

Welcome to the forum m8, the above fools are not really any help now are they.

My advise try the 14B, some love it some like Jim really had a bad time with them, you will be getting all kinds of advise on here, most of it sh1te (Me included) but not this time

If you get a 14b, make sure those pipes are gone ;)

As far as colour goes, your choice but no pink frames allowed on here, unless I get one that is

Enjoy the site and which ever 4C8, sorry 14B you choose. I am sure Mike will be along to assist soon

Welcome in to the forum mate, 14B is a great bike, need to get rid of the end cans as the stock ones are fugly, replace the midpipe to lose the cat and the heat it generates, you will need to fuel the.bike then as it will be running lean, so a PCV or flash-tune to suit, you should be getting ariund 165 -168 bhp, put on a full system for another 3 or 4 bhp.

The white ones are nice, the pink frame ones my mates think will be classics, the blue looks nice but a bit too similar to Bubs bike, the black ones look the best IMHO and are the fastest ones :D

Mike

Welcome to the forum :D I had both models of R1 at the same time with the intention of keeping the 14b [09/13] & selling the 4c8 [07/08] the 14b was too much like a v-twin imho and i didnt get on with it so i sold it,if you liked your 04 ZX10 then i think you would like the 4c8 model as the engine power delivery is pretty similar, but as they say everyone is different,if it was my cash i would try getting a test ride on each and see which was preferable ;)

+1 to what Damien sys, litho ugh bear in mind the 14B can be "modified" to reduce the V twin feel, Damien is privately gutted about selling the 14B before having it adjusted he just won't say it in public :D
