Re: new to r1
Hi peter,
Welcome to the forum, this is a great site and peeps are very helpful. Tell us a bit about your biking history so members can say a proper hello and then post your question in the 5jj section, loads of members have or have had these r1's.
Also post up some pics, we love pics on here.
We have a great sense of humour on here, though at times it can take some getting used to.... We are harmless and we do support one and other, we are like a big family, generally we get on, but we have the odd spat .... But hay that's life.
As I say.... Welcome to the best bike furum I the universe .... Oh.... And my spelling is sh!te as the guys keep telling me

I started off my bikes with a vfr400 nc23, then moved onto a zxr750 h2 then a p2 zx7r. I then bought a k3 750 which I had for 5 years before getting my r1 5jj. I don't know how to post a picture but im sure I will get help from you guys. I don't know what kind of alarm is on my bike as there is no sticker on it

Welcome in Peter
Hope you enjoy the 5jj they're a cracking bike , the places in the bike trade that my Mrs worked for used to strip out bike alarms if they were over 5 years old if there was any electrical problems as it was quite often the alarm causing it .
Here's the guide to posting pic's , you'll need a photobucket account

To post a picture, you need to host them on something like photobucket , you then copy the link into the text and hey presto you have posted a pic.
If you haven't got photobucket just google it and open an account it's free.

She looks beautiful peter. ... Nice one
Pete aka PJC..... I'm not surprised jompy is faster than me, firstly I'm old and secondary his bike is lighter than mine given it's naked.
Jompy.... I don't think I'm funny, it's just that I get my words in a mucking fuddle ......

I replied in the other post about the alarm - old Datatool.
From memory -
R/H button arm/disarm
With alarm on R/H button will turn off motion sensor.
With ignition on L/H button will put it into service mode - but will drive you up the wall with its continuous beeping.
I had one on a old Hayabusa. Taped it up to shut the thing up, then eventually removed it.
