Welcome to the forum Ben, please excuse our sense of humour, but to be fair, we do get excited when we get a GSXR owner singing the lraises of an R1 ...... And the sausage too boot....... Sausage..... Let me explain, as one of our, as scrappy would put it, "gay GSXR owners" once said, the Big Bang R1 is a "banger", the slang fir banger is sausage..... So sadly :( some peeps on here call the Big Bang R1 "sausages" ..... Yeah I know they need help

I fir one am really pleased you like your banger, they are very much like marmite, you either love them, as I do, I have had three of them over the past seven years, or you hate them , they are an awsome bike, OK a tad on the big side, a little portly, you have to muscle them into corners, but master them and they are so so rewarding to ride, and the soundtrack......... The best ever.

So welcome to the mad house, this is the best forum EVER ..... Loads of banter, p!ss taking , join in, have a laugh and give as good as you get, oh and we a all equal on here, none of them cliques you get on other forums, so join in and have a laugh.....

Welcome

Stephen

I am the ex R1 4c8 gixxer owner who coined the phrase Sausage, great bikes I am sure just not for me or a good few others on here. Enjoy her. If its a bike you love then perfect 8-) 8-) 8-)

Still need pics as the sausage to me is all about the looks ;)

Welcome in mate, loads of good stuff on here and the lads are all dead helpful, new to r1's myself and also have a banger which im changing up a bit this winter.

Had a good few gixers in the past, 600's and 750's, great bikes but definitely don't compare to a banger in my eyes, even my 08 blade i just had previous, that was an awesome bike that did everything you told it to and did it well but all these bikes did feel sterile compared to the banger, in my opinion in the short time ive had it,it feels a bit special when your on it, may not be perfect by any means but i believe theres loads of potential which i will hopefully find out from the mods im doing this winter.

Have fun with it and roll on the spring, this weather is dog sh!t.....

Cheers

Chris

   Chris, you have just summed up what the banger and to be fair other R1's are like, the feed back you get from the bike is awsome, I think all the Hondas I have owned have been deaf and dumb

hi mate and welcome to the forum, if you ride fast get your cash ready as you will soon find out you will need forks shock and linkage sorting :( .
I had the 14be and loved its looks but found it just did not behave as a bike should due to poo crap ship springy bits.....

now if only Yamaha had thought a little about ride instead of just sex appeal we would all be singing instead of selling
