Hello

Post by Druid »

I just bought a 2005 R1, thought I'd better try one while I can still bend my legs far enough to get them on the footpegs

I passed my test in 1981 and have never been more than a month without a bike since then. The R1 is quite a revelation though :)

Hi Peter, nice R1 you have there, the 5vy is a cracking bike, great opening post too, we love pics and you posted one of your pride and joy. So you have been riding as long as I have been married, so as scrappy says tell us what bikes yiu have has
D so we can all think back to the good old days before we loose our memory, yes, quite a few of us are well, not old as such , it's just that it takes us all night to do what we used to do all night and we ache when we get off the bikes..... Well I do anyway

So welcome

Stephen :D

welcome in mate, nice bike. I was born in 81 so you have been riding a while. It's not getting yr feet on the pegs you need to worry about, it's getting your legs straight again after u get off, lol.

well thanks for the warm welcome.

@jompy - I was born in Barry but I've been doing missionary work in England for many years now, currently In Co Durham ;)

My bike history is quite varied but I tend to keep my bikes for a while so there are fewer than you might think. Started with a Honda CB250K, YR5, T500, 350YPVS, CB750, Ducati 900SS, VF750, couple of CBR600s, VFR750, Firestorm, two Speed Triples and probably a few more that I've forgotten about. I'll see if I can sort some pictures out later

The R1 shares garage space with a 78 GS750 too

The disks are Viper Braking. The brakes on the R1 don't seem as sharp as those on my Speed Triple but the pads are pretty well worn and it still has the OE rubber hoses. There's a set of SBS pads and a pair of braided hoses in the garage waiting to go on, we'll see if that improves matters.

What photos I have of my old bikes are mostly film rather than digital, but here's my Ducati 900
