hi ....again

Post by Big matt »

hi,im back again.
matt from chesterfield,
couldnt remember my log in details,BIG UN.
SO joined from scratch.

joined briefly before,had a 5jj with 4xv engine fitted,finished in virgin colours.
met mr.jompy at cmc too on yzf day.

had a few bikes since then, but finaly back to the mighty r1.
picked it up last weekend.
few bits to do,tidying up as she's been unloved and kept outside by previous owner.
few bolts need changing out and a bit of paintwork tidying,
but i love it and she'll be a minter/keeper once sorted over winter.

its my 2nd 5pw,i bought a brand new one when they 1st came out,
and didnt gel with it after trading in my 98 4xv at the time.

have to say though, its bloody rapid and a joy to ride,
and its in the silver and black, which i wanted when i bought my new one,
but couldnt get hold of one so opted for blue then.

my new s.p engineering gp can came this morning,
so it looks and sounds better already now that the danmoto trumpet thingy exhaust is off!

the build quality is way ahead of my last k1 gixer 1000,and just sold my 04 tuono factory,
just couldnt get into upright riding at all.had the tuono all of 2 weeks ,cleaned it up and made £300 on it.
same with the gixer,deep clean,made £400.

i wanted this r1,despite it being against all better judgement,
i usualy only buy mint looked after bikes, but saw it and she needed rescuing bless her.
its going to be my project and my bike once done.

deffo a heart rather than head purchase lol.
good price though, fsh and only 18k on the clock.
free optimate 4,bike cover, paddock stand too.

ill get some pics up this evening. :banana-fingers:

no,ive never had an r1 that needed one,or any bike tbh!
it just makes the bike stiff to steer imo and awkward to turn in ect
like its fighting against you!

cheers steve, its grand to be back buddy.
so...whos got new bikes ect in the last year or so?!

Well I traded my anniversary banger in fit an R1 M and its fooking awesome, the best bike by a country mile that I have ever owned, mind you, to be fair, I would be saying exactly the same of it was a standard R1, they are both bloody great bikes, the difference between the M and the standard bike ..... A few thousand pounds, thay are both great [emoji3]

Welcome back to the forum, good looking bike - that's one advantage of the 5pw over the 4xv. And it's good to have someone who agrees with me about steering dampers.

Hi, welcome back.
The silver is my favorite of the 5pw's, I remember when they first came out and it was the most stunning thing to look at.

look forward to catching up on some reading and seeing the r1m steve!
i think you were just contemplating or had just ordered it when i was last on here buddy.

i was looking at 2 at cmc yesterday,a lorenzo rep and a yellow kenny roberts speedblock paint job.
the kenny one looks fantastic i have to say!

quite like the mt10 too, took a demo out last week, good bike!

cheers buddy,great to be back!
i came on a bit back trying to get back on an r1,had a look for a nice one for sale on here, but just missed out on a beauty.
realy struggled to find one so i ended up with the k1 gsxr1000.
bit of a beast but not a patch on the overall package of an r1.
fit and finish and overall quality is miles apart.
its like your giving up everything just for a bit more power.felt realy cheap and nasty!

cheers colin.

jompy,i got a quote from race paint just to re do the silver parts in o.e colours, just make it look like new,
front cowl, tank and rear cowl,£850! or £950 in race rep but that didnt include side fairings or rims or front and rear huggers!

taking the pi55 with how small the parts are and its just a standard silver colour with hardly any graphics at all.

true matey.
if theyre coming back at silly prices,i may as well go for my fave race rep,the v&m dave jeffries rep
(although he jumped ship to the gixer by the time the 02/03 r1 came out!)

ive got £1400 coming from one of those bloody ppi things, finaly some good has come out of the irratating phone calls pestering lol.
so its sort of free whatever i have done.
as long as my bike looks a million dollars, ill be happy mate.

any other suggestions for the 5pw,race rep stylee anyone?
not virgin though,as ive had one of those on the 5jj.
