Moving Up...

Post by DA. »

Hi All,

Been around bikes since school days - just bought my first R1 (2006 VY).

Looking forward to learning about the bike - and to meeting up with anyone who’s into track days – I’m based in Lancashire – 40 minutes from Oulton.

Spent lots of time on Honda Blackbirds, mostly holidaying and following the MotoGP circus around Europe – had a ZZR1400 for a couple of years and a GSXR750 road/track bike for a decade. Finally moved up to a litre bike (I need the extra CC’s to try to make up for my lack of talent) – and I’m really looking forward to lots of tinkering through the winter months to get ready for next year’s trackdays. 8-)

In fact, I’m hoping to squeeze in a couple or three TD’s before the snow hits...

...end-of-season prices are SO attractive, aren’t they?

Welcome to the forum Eric, I'm not too far from you, Cheshire, about 20 minutes from Oulton :D . I used to commute to Preston every day but now my riding is all for pleasure. Must admit oulton is my favourite track although I don't do trackdays any more.

You have come to the right place to talk about bike and trackdays, the forum organise dinner trackdays are awsome and someone is always ready to help to improve another rider she lines, braking, reference points etc. And make them a better rider too boot :D

Welcome and enjoy your 5vy, they are a cracking R1 :D

Welcome to the forum. The 5vy will be quite a different experience to the Gixxer, you'll certainly notice the extra power!

Welcome dude. I hope you enjoy the bike. ;)

I have a 5vy also and i love it. :D

Suspension seems to be the big thing with the 5vy. Get that set up correctly and you'll be flying apparently!

Cheers, lads. :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupright:
I've started to make myself comfortable on the bike and I've just booked Oulton for next Thursday. :greetings-clappingorange:

I think It's about two years since I've been on track, so it'll be good to get settled-in again while
learning about the 5VY. Road riding has helped (a bit) - but there's nothing like the "real thing"!!
