Newun from Birmingham
Hi all,
Not yet purchased an R1 but looking at getting a 2015/16 model when i've sold my current bike.
Currently have a Ducati 1199 Panigale and as much as i love it i just fancy a change, also I'm hoping I don't have to visit the dealer as much with an R1!
I've been riding since i was 16, first bike was a little Yamaha TZR 50, then got an 1999 R6 when i was 19, moved up to a Suzuki GSXR 750 K6 a couple of years later, then sold that so i could get a deposit together for a house, pootled around on my dads 1998 R1 until i bought the pani a couple of years ago.
Looking to turning the R1 into a track bike when i buy as it as i tend to do more track riding now rather than road riding.
Looking forward to picking up some useful tips and getting to know you all.
As i will be riding the R1 on track, what are the R1's like at UK tracks with noise restrictions? What Db limits are Akra slips ons/full systems, Austin racing etc measuring?
Cheers
Bazz

Welcome in mate. Make sure it's had the gearbox recall done if it's a 15.

Cheers, i've got that down on my list of questions to ask.
Is there anything else i need to specifically look out for on this models other than recalls being done?

Stone chipping on the thin paint but you will be used to this coming from Ducati no doubt.

Welcome in buddy, take a look in the 15/16 section , a good few of the lads track there bikes, meant to be an awesome track machine, some lads have had bad stone chipping on lowers but cant say I have in 4000 happy miles , bike still looks minty mint, and not had tae visit a dealer at aw, batterys are a bit weak , mine lasted 15 months before expiring, I upgraded to a lithium, no worries since, its an awesome bit of kit, get it flashtuned FOR ADDED MADNESS

Welcome to the forum Bazz, you won't be disappointed with the 2015/16 model R1, they are bloody fantastic and a really beautiful bike to ride. Regarding the stone chipping, my advice would be to get the bike covered in venture shield, a few of us on here have it on our bikes and I've been using it now since 2009 am dit keeps the bikes clean if stone chips, really worth the money.
Welcome
Stephen
