2005 R6

Hi guys!

New to the forum so hello to everyone!

I'm about to purchase a 2005 R6 to upgrade from my newbee CBR 125 and I just wanted to ask a bit about aftermarket parts.

600 is plenty so I'm not on here carried away asking about POWER GAINS!!!! Haha! Just wanted to see what peoples opinions are on the best companies/brands for aftermarket bits. Brake lines, exhausts, aesthetic bits and bobs and more than likely a steering damper.

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi Jon ,first thing to do if it's still got original brake lines is to change them to braided ones ,and if not already done a good service inc changing fork oil ride the bike and get to know it before spending a wedge on aftermarket bits

Yeah thought the brake lines would defo be a good first move. It's got a full Yamaha service history but I'll check how recent it was done. Absolutely mate, not going to start throwing loads of cash at it was just for future knowledge

Sam's correct standard hoses should be changed at 5 years as they deteoriate and brake fluid should be changed every few years too . Again as Sam says get used to the bike first but aftermarket levers make a big difference , I didn't realize how big a difference untill the wife got me a set of titax shorties , personally I'd have gone for standard length . Titax used to be half the price of the top brands but I've not looked in ages .

Can you tell us more about the bike? Mileage, what mods it already has, etc.

Definitely a good idea to look through the service history and see what's been done and how long ago. Some fluid changes, like brake fluid and coolant, should be done regularly even if the mileage is low.

Hi Jon and welcome. As you've already found theres lots of advice on here. Fab bike choice too, great fun. Mods - personal choics - mines as standard as they come [emoji106]well apart from seat covers and screen and I've still got the originals, so nothing major.
