Hi all, just joined and trying to find out some info, I am looking to buy a 2012-2015 R1, went to see 3 today and only one of them had traction control.
2013 R1 no T/C
2014 R1 with T/C
2015 R1 no T/C (early 2015, same shape as the other 2)
I thought all R1's 2012 on had T/C anyone no if there is any other differences with the none T/C models.
Thanks

Re: Newbie
Welcome in Simon
Theres threads on this in the 14B section to confirm this but they can be hard to find as the search engine's a bit sh!t .
There was a facelift of the 14B in 2014 if i remember correctly and it was re numbered the 14BE which had slightly different nose and TC
so 09-13 = 14B no TC
2014 = 14BE TC
Any 2015's are late registered as they went on to the new bike which was the 2CR and a completely different bike and better

Pretty close, it was the 12-14 14be (official designation 1KB) that had TCS, 9-11 14B was no TCS.
2015 -2016 was the 2CR which has TCS as well as an inertial measurement unit so has wjeelie control as well as slide control, is smaller, lighter and more powerful.
IMHO the 14B/1KB make a better road bike as heavier bike and softer suspension make them a great bike to ride on roads, the 2015 onwards are better suited to track, smaller, more cramped, firmer sprung etc etc.

This is a 2916 but the 2015 2CR are this shape, that’s the week I bought it.

Looks a little different now though [emoji23]

Wish I’d kept my 14B took me 10 years to build it, got begged to sell it by a guy I know who promptly sold it 3 months later, and it got broken up and sold off.

Re: Newbie
Thanks for your replies, this is the 2015 one with no t/c definitely not the newer shape one and registered in May 2015. All the research I have done is pretty much the same as you have said, 09-11 no t/c 12-14 has t/c the new shape at 2015

Re: Newbie
The 2013 one with no t/c was registered in July 2013, as you can see in the pic no t/c switch, but also looks like a 09-11 model as the front is slightly different.
I didn't get to go and see this one though as was sold when I contacted him

This thread is motivating me to look for a 14b! They do look good.

Just the last two years have adjustable TCS.
IIRC if the top yoke has slots in it’s a TCS model.
Old enough to know better.
