Just serviced and replaced needle valves on my 98 R1
Anyone know if there is a measurement for the float setting, rather than filling it with fuel and adjusting the float.

Yes, there is a method using the float height. It is tricky though, as you have to hold the carbs at the correct angle as they are almost downdraught.

There is no Yamaha spec, but I have some tuning info from Factory Pro that gives 9.5 mm. Check your needle valves first and replace if they show any wear.
