hi just joined from Weston-super-mare, I've ride a 2002 R1 that I've had for 6 1/2 years. I'm looking for help before I start it, as its been left for 18 months :naughty: then looking to get back on the road with new and old friends so any help or advice would be great fully received and any help or advice I can give I will

It was mint before just don't want to start, i was thinking of just topping up a little oil cus its probably all dry at the top??I was thinking of putting it straight in for a service, I'm going to drain out the old petrol and replace with new and replace the battery ( I was on a trickle charger but the charger knackered about a year ago

Welcome in Leigh
Like you said , drain tank & carbs then replace fuel . Turn over a few times on the starter then fire it up , run some pro fst through it to clean the carbs . To be honest it should start on the fuel that's in it but the fuel will be wank

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. Good luck with getting the bike started. If you haven't ridden fir 18 months you may be a bit rusty, so take it easy.... No offence meant.

Also post some pics, we love pics on here

Welcome in Leigh.

You want to spin her over without starting just to get the oil around the mota.

Deffo change oil, coolant and brake fluid, take pads out and clean them and the disks/calipers. If standard brake lines I would change them as well, like me they are getting on a tad ;)

yep like PJC says spin her over a few times to get the oil round it before firing up , you can do this buy taking the plug caps off or if your draining the fuel from tank & carbs anyway do it while the carbs are empty ;)

welcome in Leigh ;)

As these lot above state, but i would flick the "ON/OFF" switch onto "OFF" then turn it over for a few seconds a few times to get the oil round, but it will need new fluids at the very least mate

but dad I thought if the kill switch was in off position the bike would be completely dead , I can't remember properly as I never use the kill switch !
