Front Brake issue

Post by TT2014 »

Hi,
I have a problem with the front brake on my 2003 R1. The brake works very well but the lever won't pull in far enough to activate the brake light. So I have to use the back brake to activate the brake light. The pads are in good condition, 5.6mm depth remaining on each. The switch is in a fixed position so can't be moved. I've also had the pads out and worked the pistons, they move freely and are in very good condition. The front wheel spins freely.

Please help, Thanks.

My guess would be the tip of the little plastic plunger that activates the switch has broken off, probably when changing the brake lever, new switch will cure it ;)
Or..... its another case of crappy chinese levers

Hi mate.

Had the same problem on my 14be, it was the brake light switch that had broken so replaced it and now it works. :P

As peeps say... Some pics and biking history in newbies section will go down a treat.
