Well i hope Jeff realises that my post was not a personal attack. It would seem YUK have their hands tied as does everybody who would be in the firing line of dissatisfied customers, thats the job i guess.. You can't sit on top of the bonfire and not expect to be burned as someone once said to me.

For me, it's not actually the fact the bikes are running late that is my main issue, it's the fact that based on the original scheduled date of 1st April (I should have taken clues from that) i believed that to be a realistic date based on £2.5k Deposits going down last December and the fact most new models are, in fact, in the showrooms by then, generally speaking.

On that premise i sold my Fireblade late March to a mate that was gagging for it as it was mint, had been pampered to death all it's life and my R1M was very nearly due.

Thats left me without a bike to ride and thats the issue, if the Blade was still in the garage i would be chilled out as a big chilled out thing.

Another 'mate' (more like a track day associate) has been told July for his delivery, however he has a HP4 and a red framed R1 sitting in his garage .... He's ok and the wait isn't an issue to him.

The slippages were conveyed far to late in the day and by the time it started slipping and then continued to slip, i had committed and planned April and May of my biking year .... The timing was unfortunate and will end up costing me money in terms of track days i cannot attend now. You know the score with refunds on track days .... unless you cancel 2 months in advance you can forget it.

Anyway, my final word on this is that YUK are communicating with me and that's a good thing.

Is all i want is my bike expedited, like all that are waiting do also ..... then maybe the R1 will win me over. :violin:

There is a nice Fireblade SP in the showroom at Sutton Honda 5 miles away from where i live and i am seriously tempted  :naughty: :shhh:

Evening all.... Just been going through the posts and still here ready to comment or help where possible. Thanks firstly for the support not only for me but all at Yamaha UK. They are all good guys and trying to help. Not sure if everyone knows the background so just to clarify things here's a summary.
Cast your minds back to Nov 2014 and the live stream of the R1 and R1M launch from Milan - right from this point we had been receiving unbelieveable interest in the new bikes including firm orders from dealers etc. We knew then though that only about 75 x R1M would be allocated to the UK. Moving on to Motorcycle Live '14 and the first UK showing and a crowd five deep around the R1M for nine days! We had also realised people thought the R1M was a limited edition and only a certain number would be made despite the fact that what the factory had actually said was that the R1M production was limited meaning they could only make so many per year. The demand was leading to people pulling strings and trying to get to the front of the queue. Therefore it was decided to use an online reservation system as it was thought to be the fairest way to give everyone the same chance of getting an R1M. Maybe we should have prioritised current owners or even yamahar.co.uk members but its still very difficult to be fair to all and the clock was ticking (just to say 2106 ordering system is not yet decided but will let you know when I have information). We publicised the on-line reservation system as best as possible and switched it on at noon on 1st Dec the day after NEC show finised. Two and a half hours later we were three times over subscribed so turned the system off. The lucky people who had the first reservations and who also chose to jon the YRE event then had 14 days to go to the dealer and complete the deal.
We always new the R1 and R1M were going to come to the market relatively late in the season. The press launch was on 23rd Feb and first bikes started coming through about four weeks later which is about the normal time scale from launch event to dealership. The first deliveries saw the percentage of R1M to R1 coming through remain about the same as the allocation, so only a handful of R1M arrived by end of March and then a few in early April. However all was still on schedule for the R1M deliveries in good time for the YRE events - until we hit a snag!! As you probably know the rear Ohlins shock on the R1M was recalled by Ohlins who were to replace all units due to a manufacturing error. The R1M's in the market could not be ridden until a new shock was fitted and a stop was put on deliveries. As is normal in cases such as this it took a little time to process the modification procedure with the vehicle authorities (Yamaha as a motorcycle manufacturer has to follow certain vehicle procedures). Obviously the R1M units had to have the rear shock changed before shipping (cant send out faulty units just in case...) so a team of engineers went to the European warehouse to uncrate the bikes, changes shocks and recrate and work could only start when the new shocks arrived. This process is now well under way.
Meanwhile the YRE dates were creeping towards us...and things were further complicated because when the deliveries were stopped for the work to be done all the delivery dates defaulted back three months.
So as of today everyone involved is working to get R1Ms delivered and the team in Europe is updating the delivery dates constantly for all riders across Europe - so keep checking via your dealer. We are fully aware of the YRE applications and are monitering deliveries against YRE dates.
Sorry its a bit of a novel but hope it helps to explain whats going on. Communication is of course mega important hence the reason I joined the forum - although on a personal note Ive enjoyed reading the banter. And Pipe just to let you know I too have a Honda in the garage 1982 CB1100R amongst other things (the R1M of its day!!). Jeff

The whole launch was a total sham.
