The OE disc on the 4xv is 5mm thick. It's something you have to watch with Chinese discs, although they usually make them thinner than standard.

Well I did find just few tiny shavings in the magnet. I didn't notice at first, but then I put me glasses on.
I'm sure that is something the filter would have caught ...

Yes it was a magnet in the end.
You may also notice some subtle fettling on the filter which was just enough to avoid exhaust removal.

There's a few things a you need to know about the 4xv , I've never seen the anodized bit your on about but if I remember I'll take a pic of mine for you tonight . The standard oil filter part number 303 so if you buy a K&n it's KN 303 or High Flow is HF 303
